The manga museum organizes hands-on workshops around the theme "Experiencing Manga". Many people relate to comics in more ways than just reading. We see manga every day at convenience stores and book shops. We buy them, enjoy them, consume them. Apart from reading, how else can we relate to manga? In other words, do manga have no other appeal than being read? One way to explore this are educational workshops on making manga and studying manga.

There are many kinds of workshops. Most of them take one of the following three directions. The first is experiencing how to make comics. Speech balloons, panel layouts and manga-specific symbols are explained here. The second type of workshops goes beyong manga to address, for example, the creation of animation and figurines. The third type focuses on collaboration with other sectors by means of manga. The manifold activities include those with a strong craft element, for example in creating fans and eco-bags, but also collaborations with traditional techniques applied to creating carp streamers or colored paper

These examples and results, achieved, among other things, by cooperation with schools and lifelong-learning institutions, show the scope of education about manga itself and education by means of manga. Especially in the field of art education, where some experiences have already been made, an even greater variety may be expected in the future.
